What to Do With These Hands

This is where the fun begins. If you’ve got a hand like this with a medium or high chip stack, you’ve done your job well. You need to make sure now that you don’t give yourself away. Would you rather just take the blinds pot (the pot of all the betting before the flop) or would you rather take a pot that has gone through all the rounds of betting? Hopefully you chose the last option.

To get as much out of the pot as possible, you need to play the other players. You need to make them get their confidence up and make them think they have the better hand. What you’re going to have to aim to do is, you’ll have to call everything, but do it in a way where you give off the “I’ve got a bad hand and I’m unsure if I should stay in or not” attitude. If someone raises the blinds, you need to hesitate and act slowly. When the person who put in the raise is looking, you need to act stressed and look at your cards again. When you’re looking at them, put a puzzled look on your face and slowly put them back down.

But, make sure you play it right. If you can manage to pull all of the previous steps off successfully, try a couple more. Ask the dealer or the person who put in the raise how much it is while slowly reaching for your chips. Be reluctant to call them, but make sure you do. Once you do that, they’ll think that your hand is weak and once the flop is dealt, they’ll probably try to take you down. Keep on calling, and if you dare to, raise them. And if someone else raises that, don’t do exactly the same as before, but give off the “aw come on!” attitude. If you can pull this off, you will max out your pots and will keep the winnings coming in fast.
